The United States Census Bureau estimated the population in 2004 to be 42,975. The village's challenge to the Census Bureau regarding its official 2010 population was accepted, revising the official population of the village from 43,165 to 43,395.
Per the 2010 United States Census, Lombard had 43,165 people. There were 17,405 households out of which 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% were married couples living together, 4.3% had a female householder with children & no husband present, and 37.0% were non-families. 30.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 25.9% had someone who was 65 years of age or older.
